Mari Flatt, LMHC

My name is Mari Flatt and I have been working in mental health counseling for about eight years (two years while in Graduate School). I obtained a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and Criminal Justice from North Dakota State University and I received my Master's degree in Counseling from the University of North Dakota. I am currently a licensed professional counselor and licensed mental health counselor.

I have worked with women and child victims of domestic violence and sexual assault doing individual and group therapy, children and families doing intensive in-home services, with children in a school setting, and, most recently, four years working with military members and their families. With this work, along with being a military spouse and a former police officer, I have a unique understanding of the culture and stressors for military/first responders.

My counseling style is warm, empathetic, and non-judgmental. I believe in meeting clients where they are regardless of success or setbacks and celebrating their small victories while providing encouragement along the way. My counseling approach combines person-centered, cognitive-behavioral, and solution-focused techniques. I will, however, tailor my counseling approach to meet your specific needs.

Getting started is a big step and can sometimes seem overwhelming, but I am here to provide you with support and motivation along the way. I look forward to working with you on a healthier YOU!
