Dillon Dostal, Therapist

As a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Illinois, I currently work as Associate Intake Therapist for Compass Health Center in Chicago. I meet with individuals who are interested in attending my organization’s PHP/IOP mental health programs for one-hour intake assessments. My company primarily works with individuals experiencing symptoms related to depression, anxiety/OCD, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and PTSD.

I graduated with my M.S. in Clinical/Mental Health Counseling from the University of Nebraska-Omaha and have 5+ years of clinical experience, working for a crisis call line, an agency that specialized in individuals on parole/probation, and a re-entry assistance program at a county jail. I also have clinical case management experience working with survivors of IPV, individuals diagnosed with SPMI diagnoses (severe persistent mental illness), and individuals detoxing off drugs and/or alcohol.

While I like to pull from many theoretical approaches to best fit the needs of each individual, I primarily like to use techniques from person-centered therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), and solution-focused therapy.

I aim to serve young adults and adults in my practice, and take special interest in individuals that identify within the LGBTQIA+ community. As a fellow member of the community, I recognize that navigating your sexual orientation and/or gender identity in today’s world can often be a major life stressor. I also take interest in working with college students, young professionals, survivors of IPV, and grief/loss.

My goal in therapy is to provide you with a safe space where you feel seen, heard, and not judged. My goals are to normalize talking to a professional when life gets too hard to manage and to reduce the possible guilt or shame surrounding the idea of seeking counseling services.
