Denise Davis, LHMC
Hello, my name Is Denise Davis and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC). I have 20 years of clinical experience. I have always known that I wanted to be a therapist because I love to help people reach their goals, and beyond! My role as your therapist is to help you find your way and to stand beside you through your journey. Whether you are dealing with depression, anxiety, abuse or any other problem, there can be a happy ending to your story. Or as I like to say, a new beginning of great things to come your way!
I attended Indiana Wesleyan University for my Master’s Degree and my major was Community Counseling. I attended Ball State University for my Bachelor’s Degree and my major was Social Work with a minor in Psychology. Throughout my years of experience, I have used several types of therapy approaches but the two that I like the best are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). When it is all said and done it might appear more eclectic where I may bring in other approaches depending on the situation, but CBT and DBT tend to work with most situations and I have seen the most success with these therapeutic styles.
My specialties include women’s issues, mood disorders, relationship issues and substance abuse. I have worked in several different therapeutic environments including Community Mental Health, Corrections and Government Programs. My greatest strength is listening. I will not be able to help you if I don’t really listen to what you are saying. When we have a session that is your time. You will have my undivided attention because I am here for you! I want you to feel comfortable and I want you to know without a doubt that I care! I want to commend you for taking the first step!. This is typically the hardest part of counseling! Congratulations! I look forward to getting to know you!
